How to Add a New Employee
To add a new starter:
Navigating to the People Section: From the main page, click on the People section in the left-hand side menu.
Initiating the Process: Click on the "+Add Team Member" button in the top right corner. Two options will appear. Click on "Add New" under the "Add One at a Time" box.
Personal Details: In the first section, input the employee's contact details and address.
Employment Details: The second section covers employment details:
- Enter the employment start date.
- Provide the payroll ID (a unique identifier used by HMRC).
- Choose a pay schedule for the employee.
- Enter salary details.
- Indicate if the employee is a director.
Starter Details: The final section covers starter details:
- Starter Type: Select the employee's starter type: "New Employee with P45," "New Employee without P45," or "Existing Employee."
Existing Employee: If you select this option, you will be asked to input employee YTD figures.
New Employee: If you select this option, you will be asked to enter the starter declaration and input tax code details.
- Note: You can click "Save and Finish Later" if you don't want to complete all details at this time. To resume the process later, locate the employee in the People section, click the three dots next to their name, and select "Finish Employee Setup."
By following these steps, you can successfully add a new starter to FreePayroll.
