# Managing Your HMRC Credentials and PAYE Reference

1. **Access the HMRC Section**: Navigate to the left menu and select the HMRC section.

2. **Edit Credentials**: Click on 'edit' next to your current status. This will open a popup displaying your PAYE reference, Accounts office reference, Gateway User ID, and password.

3. **Update and Test Connection**: After making any changes, click on “Test Connection” to verify the correctness of the credentials.

4. **Save Changes**: Once you are satisfied with the settings, click on 'save' to update your information.

**Note**: When you enter your HMRC credentials into our system, we perform a validation check by sending a blank report to HMRC. If you receive an email from HMRC stating "Unsuccessful submission for Reference 120/XXXXXXX," there is no need to worry. It is just us performing the validation, and on this case it means the validation was successfull.
