How can I download FPS Submissions ?

Downloading FPS from the Payroll Section

1. Navigate to Payroll: Go to the 'Payroll' section and then to the 'History' subsection.
2. Access the Options: Click on the three dots next to the desired payroll entry.
3. Download FPS: Select 'Download FPS'. Note that this option might be unavailable if HMRC has not yet confirmed the FPS submission.

Downloading FPS from the Reports Section

1. Go to Reports: Navigate to the 'Reports' section and select 'HMRC Submissions' followed by 'Full Payment Submissions'.
2. Select Pay Schedule and Tax Period: Choose the appropriate pay schedule and the tax period related to the submission.
3. View Submissions: FreePayroll will display a popup containing all submissions for that tax period.
4. Download Options: You can choose to download a single submission or all submissions for the period.

Understanding the Downloaded Files

• Submission File: Contains the data that FreePayroll submitted to HMRC in XML format.
• Response File: Contains HMRC's response to the submission. If the submission failed, we provide the response in a csv format, for better understanding of the error. Otherwise, the file is provided in XML format.
